Two weeks to discover the wonders of Portugal with the freedom to travel in a rental car along a route that includes stops in the most iconic places in the country. The second week will be dedicated entirely to relaxation in the splendid landscape and seascape of the Algarve.

The journey begins in Porto where the rental car will be delivered to head to Pinhão, Douro region, where the viewpoints offer splendid landscape views of vineyards, villages and towns, with an exciting boat trip on the Douro River and lunch on board. We return to Porto, on the north-west coast, famous for its large bridges and the production of the well-known “port” wine. Here it will be possible to visit a wine gallery.

We continue towards Manteigas, a delightful and characteristic Portuguese town, in the Guarda district, in the green “Rio Zêzere Valley” at just over 700 meters above sea level, where you can admire particular eighteenth-century buildings and then visit a burel factory, at high altitude, at the highest point of mainland Portugal. The “shepherd's path” excursion will be a splendid opportunity to learn about the ancient traditions of artisan weaving that have been handed down for generations.

On the third day we arrive in Coimbra, in the heart of Portugal, famous for its splendid, well-preserved medieval historic center and the well-known University. The “Academic Traditions Route” is planned in the city, a “dive” into the ancient past between the history and traditions of the student communities, and an exquisite lunch in a traditional restaurant or a skilfully converted former 18th century ceramic factory.

Once in Tomar, a lovely town on the banks of the Nabão river, with its enchanting historic centre, after an excellent lunch based on local specialities, there is a guided tour of the Convent of Christ of Tomar, a Templar fortress built around 1160 by Gualdim Pais. It is one of the most important Renaissance works of art in Portugal, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

And finally Lisbon, a Portuguese pearl and welcoming city, where you can walk around to discover all its beauty and secrets. There is a lot to see in the city, and we suggest a stop at the São Jorge Castle from which to admire the view of the pastel-coloured buildings of the old city, and at the Torre de Belém, once used to defend the city, later becoming a custom and a lighthouse.

Finally, Mértola, an enchanting place where storks nest and whose white houses overlook the Guadiana river. Here there is a kayak excursion and a few hours of free time and entertainment for pleasant moments of relaxation.

The second week on the beautiful coast of the Algarve region you will experience a relaxing holiday with breathtaking views of the sea, unforgettable sunsets and exquisite lunches and dinners based on seafood specialities. In Carvoeiro a beautiful boat trip will be organized to the Benagil cellars, to the suggestive cave of the same name known for a particular hole in the upper part.

The spectacle of nature and the delights of local food and wine will be just a first taste of the splendid stay in the Algarve that will literally make you fall in love with Portugal!
