It is in the heart of Monte Poro that rock settlements have been excavated, probably by Sbariati, or stragglers, fugitives: a group of Basilian monks fleeing from the East. We are talking about over 50 caves dug by man, covering an area of ​​about 3,000 square meters, partly carved into the rock and partly built. These spaces were used as homes but also as a shelter for animals or for the production of wine.
