You will visit the Rocchetta castle and its numerous rooms, discovering its history and the events of Count Cesare Mattei
“Humble abode” of Count Cesare Mattei, labyrinth of towers, monumental stairways, reception rooms, private rooms that recall different styles: from neo-medieval to neo-Renaissance, from Moorish to Liberty. In 1850 the Count bought a piece of land with the ruins of an ancient castle of the thirteenth century and began the construction of his Rocchetta, a true fairytale castle in which he lived with his court. You will visit the castle and its many rooms, discovering its history and events. You will remain immersed in history even during lunch, which will be in an ancient mill, not far away. A building dating back to the seventeenth century, witness of the rural life of the past, of the transformation and grinding of cereals to the production of bread baked in the traditional wood oven.
